Well I did it. After 40 years I'm doing what I liked to do all those years. I'm BIG SHOOTER MIKE, 57 years old, going on 12, Finally after so many months of research and tribulations I decided to take my heart in my teeth and ask my wife (the Worden as Manatee will say) for a donation of "whatever" to something that became one of the most important part of my remaining years. The Cowboy Action Shooting. I became a SASS member, 51746, and I started traveling like a gypsy all over the state of Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin, looking for people like me and places to shoot. Cowboy action shooting is here to stay. Here is how it all started. I found some very interesting sites on the internet and I hope I'm not booed for not mentioning all of them. One of the sites that I learned a lot about and impressed me the most is the site of Captain Bailors Ranger Camp. So much information, so many examples and links back to other good places. I found out about a CAS club not to far from me, in Sycamore, Illinois. I went to one of the monthly meetings, and I met a bunch of guys who were all dressed up and ready to shoot. Staying over to see the shootout ,I met Tony Bee and Marshall Magoo. They told me what I need and what they use but not having the courage to ask for permission to shoot some of theire guns I left with a knot in my heart, the smell of powder in my nose and with a "I have to do this" look on my face. I started looking for pistolas, rifle and shotgun, the minimum required. From all the places I looked at the best one was Kempf Gun Shop, in Indiana. Ms. Sassie Sue, a SASS member, and I found out later, the Territorial Governor, the propriator of this establishment answered a lot of my questions. At one time I was afraid to ask so she would not think I'm really stupid, and I should not be part of this great group of pardners. After e-mule after e-mules, I decided on two Ruger Vaqueros in .357/.38, a Marlin 1984 Cowboy and a Norrinco 97. I also purchased some clothes, ammunition, powder, lead bullets and few extras for reloding. So this is my story and I'll stick to it. I'll continue to add more sites and pictures from clubs were I shoot or from clubs that would like to be published. Any questions about this site please e-mule me at
